General Purposes Sub-Committee: February 14th 1927

 

On Minute No 1006 (Farcroft Branch) - the City Surveyor submitted a plan for the conversion of the premises at No 206 Rookery Road to meet the requirements of a permanent Branch.

 

1049   RESOLVED:- That the plan submitted be approved and that the General Manager be instructed to obtain tenders for the carrying out of the work.

On Minutes Nos 1006 and 1049 (Farcroft Branch) - the Sub-Committee proceeded to consider the tenders which had been received for the carrying out of the work:

1094   RESOLVED:- That the General Committee be recommended to accept the tender of Mr George Mobbs of Small Heath at the sum of 2,417, and to instruct the Town Clerk to prepare and seal the necessary Contract in the matter.

 

The General Manager reported that as it was desired to carry out the Farcroft contract as speedily as possible, he had taken steps with a view to securing temporary accommodation for the Branch, and had ascertained that it would be possible to utilise the Rookery Road Mission Room.

 

1108   RESOLVED:- That the General Manager be instructed to make such arrangements in the matter as may seem to him desirable.

 

Finance Sub-Committee: June 13th 1927

 

The General Manager reported that during the alterations at 206 Rookery Road the business of the Farcroft Branch was being conducted in the school-room belonging to the Primitive Methodist Church by permission of the Reverend Scarlett. It was anticipated that the room, which carried with it use of furniture, lighting and services of the caretaker would be required for six or seven months and the General Manager suggested that a payment of 25 be made to cover expenses during the time the accommodation is required.

 

97       RESOLVED:- That a payment of 25 be made in respect of the use of the Schoolroom belonging to the Primitive Methodist Church during the occupation by the Bank for carrying on the business of the Farcroft Branch.

 

Report of the Town Clerk: September 23rd 1927

 

I have to report that the following Contract is now duly complete:

Finance Sub-Committee: December 12th 1927

 

The General Manager reported that arrangements had been made on the authority of the Chairman of the General Committee for the flat at the Farcroft Branch to be let to Mr William Charles Partington on an annual tenancy at a rental of 25 per annum, for three years commencing 25th December 1927, the tenant paying rates and being responsible for internal repairs.

 

153     RESOLVED:- That the General Committee be recommended to confirm the action taken in the matter, and to instruct the Town Clerk to prepare and seal any necessary agreement.

 

Finance Sub-Committee: July 9th 1928

 

The General Manager reported that Mr Partington, the lessee of the flat at No 206, Rookery Road, has asked to be released from his agreement, owing to family troubles, and in view of the reasons given in support of the request it was:

 

231    RESOLVED:- That the request be complied with, and that the General Manager be authorised to find a suitable tenant for the premises.

The General Manager reported that the following tender for painting work at Farcroft had been accepted by the Chairman:

The General Manager reported that the flat at the Farcroft Branch would be vacant on the 23rd instant.

 

628     RESOLVED:- That steps be taken to let the flat to a member of the staff or of the Police Force, failing which Mr Wilde be instructed to obtain a suitable tenant.

Letting of Flat at Farcroft Branch.

 

Your Sub-Committee report that arrangements have been made to let the above-mentioned flat to Police Constable Robert Griffiths on an annual tenancy at a rental of 25 per annum plus rates and internal repairs.

The following arrangement has been made for the letting of the flat:

 

James Thompson: annual tenancy for 1 year certain and thereafter quarterly, at a rental of 26 per annum, tenant to be responsible for rates and internal repairs.
