General Purposes Sub-Committee: December 14th 1925

On Minutes Nos 646 and 787, it was:

818     RESOLVED:- That Councillors Appleby and Stephens with the General Manager be requested to revisit the Hall Green District, with a view to deciding on a suitable site or sites for a branch or branches.

General Purposes Sub-Committee: February 8th 1926

861 On Minutes Nos 746/818 (Hall Green District - site for Branch) the General Manager stated that the proposal to purchase land belonging to Mr Elt had been abandoned owing to the awkward position of the site. He further reported that the representatives of the Sub-Committee had been making enquiries with regard to land near the station and would report later on the matter.

General Purposes Sub-Committee: March 8th 1926

On Minutes Nos 746 and 818 (Hall Green district - site for branch) the General Manager reported that enquiries had been continued, and an opportunity had now arisen of purchasing a piece of land on the southwest side of Stratford Road, near the corner of Highfield Road, having an area of approximately 500 square yards at a price of 1. 1. 0. per square yard.

881    RESOLVED:- That the matter be further considered with a view to a suitable recommendation being made to the General Committee thereon at their next meeting.

General Purposes Sub-Committee: March 15th 1926

The General Manager reported with reference to the proposed purchase of a site at Hall Green:

BRANCH FOR HALL GREEN DISTRICT.

The Committee will remember that on several occasions reports and recommendations have been submitted with regard to sites in Hall Green, but that a clear decision as to the site most favoured has not been given.

After consideration, the plot of land offered to the Bank by Mr Elt at the corner of Robin Hood Lane and Stratford Road was turned down, it being felt that that position was too near the boundary, and that the development of the area was not likely to be sufficiently rapid.

Land opposite the junction of Fox Hollies and Highfield Roads with Stratford Road is available for purchase. Commencing with the corner of Highfield Road and running along Stratford Road, the prices for the plots vary from 15/- per square yard up to 2. 2. 0. A plan of the different plots is available, and it would appear that plots 12 and 13, at 1. 1. 0. per square yard, would be suitable for a Branch Bank.

One of the corner plots has already been sold, and doubtless others will soon be disposed of.

900     RESOLVED:- That the General Committee be recommend to approve of negotiations being entered into for the purchase of the land in Stratford Road, near to the corner of Highfield Road.

Bank Committee: March 15th 1926

Report to Committee

The Chairman and General Manager considered the question of erection of Branch premises on the land purchased at the corner of Pershore Road and Dogpool Lane, and at Stratford Road, Hall Green, and they are of opinion that in both cases it would be desirable to erect premises rather than place on the land temporary wooden buildings.
