PAINTER AND DECORATOR.
All paint to be mixed on the site from materials delivered in bulk in the best manner with suitable driers and properly strained.
 
The white lead to be pure stack made of British manufacture, not less than twelve months old.
 
The oil to be best linseed, perfectly clear, raw for internal work and boiled for external work.
 
The turpentine to be best quality American.
 
The distemper to be "Walpamur" or other approved, and to be mixed and applied strictly in accordance with the instructions issued by the manufacturers and only the special thinning liquid supplied by them to be used for thinning. After the first coat is dry any parts which appear "sunk in", are to be touched up until a uniform surface is obtained.
 
The paint on plastered walls to be Mander's "Vernasco" or other approved.
 
All paints and varnishes to be obtained from Mander Bros. of Wolverhampton or other approved manufacturer, and to be used in accordance with their instructions and all varnish to be eggshell finish.
 
The enamel to be "Ripolin" or other approved and to be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and to have one undercoat and one finishing coat (eggshell finish).
 
The woodwork to be knotted with patent knotting and black or projecting knots to be cut out and filled up with hard stopping omitting f dry white lead and gold size.
 
The woodwork to be well pumiced down and brought to a smooth surface previous to each coat of colour being applied.
 
The ironwork to be scraped and thoroughly cleaned before being painted.
 
All tints to be selected by the Architect, and samples of all painting and polishing to be submitted in their proper positions in the Building for the Architect's approval, before the work is commenced.
 
CLEAN OFF PROTECTIVE COVERINGS and scrub and clean free from
all stains to the entire satisfaction of the Architect the following:-

COVER UP AND PROTECT WITH APPROVED STOUT PAPER COVERING,
