Broad Street Head Office - Banking Hall Ceiling
These three photographs (taken shortly after the building's completion in 1933)
provide details of the ceiling and skylight of the Banking Hall. The first photograph (taken from the balcony on the First Floor's
northern corridor) shows the portion of the ceiling that bears the motto THRIFT RADIATES HAPPINESS. The lower photographs show more
detail of the skylight that illuminated the Banking Hall. The second motto (SAVING IS THE MOTHER OF RICHES) is on the left (ie eastern)
side. The date MCMXXXIII was inscribed at both the northern and southern ends.
