CONCRETOR AND REINFORCED CONCRETE.
SAFE DEPOSIT, ETC

CONCRETOR.

 
The sand to be approved clean sharp and coarse free from loam and all other impurities and washed if required or directed.
 
The aggregate to be approved clean and free from dust, hard brick, gravel or granite for foundations and beds under pavings broken to pass a 1½ ring, and for suspended work lintols, etc, broken to pass a ¾" ring and all to be retained on a ¼" mesh and screened free from dust.
 
The cement to be best quality Portland from an approved British manufacturer, guaranteed perfectly cool and to pass the tests required by the Architect in accordance with the British Engineering Standard Specification and to be stored, and if required well cooled in an approved dry shed with raised floor.
 
The Contractor to supply free of charge a signed certificate from the Manufacturer with each consignment stating the results of the tests and recording the date of grinding.
 
The materials for concrete to be carefully gauged in the proportions specified in proper boxes and measured and thoroughly mixed and incorporated together in a machine of sufficient capacity to suit the requirements and obviate initial set, the water for each batch must be measured in a tank of the exact capacity to suit each mix.
 
The surfaces of all concrete to be finished true to levels, slopes or fall as required.
 
After completion of concreting to foundations an interval of seven days to elapse before building commenced.
 
 The finished surface of the concrete granolithic floors, etc, to be kept damp for at least seven days after laying by covering with sand and sawdust frequently sprinkled with water.
 

CONCRETE TO SAFE DEPOSIT, CASH ROOM, AND MORTGAGE SECURITIES

 

The sand to be approved clean sharp pit sand and washed if required.

 

The aggregate to be approved ?" crushed washed gravel free from dust and twice screened to pass a ½" ring and all to be retained on a ¼" mesh.

 

The cement to be "Ferrocrete" or other approved rapid hardening cement to pass the tests required by the Architect and to be stored in an approved dry shed with raised floor.

 

The concrete to be composed of three parts aggregate two parts sand and one part cement and to be carefully gauged in these proportions in proper boxes and thoroughly mixed and incorporated together in a machine of sufficient capacity to suit the requirements and obviate initial set, the water for each batch must be measured in a tank of the exact capacity to suit each mix.

 

The mass to be mixed as dry as possible and left thoroughly solid and tamped and packed until all air pockets, etc, are eliminated and all moisture is brought to the surface.

 

The walling to be carried up in stages not exceeding 18" high carefully filled into shuttering (elsewhere measured) a small part has Granite plinth on one side.

 

Cement concrete in walls well worked around steel columns and stancheons and into webs.

 

REINFORCED CONCRETE.

 

The following to be all as before and in addition to be thoroughly packed, tamped and worked into, between and around steel interlacing mattress or other approved Strong Room reinforcement previously fixed by Specialist fixers.

 

The Concrete to the floors to be executed in stages to suit the erection of the reinforcement.

 

236 Cubic Yards Cement concrete in floors 15" & 16" thick and foundation under same.

199 Cubic Yards   -do-       in walls 18" and 23" thick filled in to shuttering (shuttering elsewhere measured).

288 Cubic Yards   -do-       in roof 16" and 23" thick hoisted and fixed centering at ground floor level

                                     (centering elsewhere measured).

 

Fix only the following in thickness of concrete walls before concreting is commenced properly secure to shuttering or centering as necessary and include for packing and well working concrete around same.

 

4 - 6" x 6" Sheet metal vent trunk 24" long fixed raking

1 - 18" x 9"    -do- 24" long -do-

22 - 6" Diameter ramped -do- 36" girth
