HOARDINGS AND GANTRY.

HOARDINGS.

 

 

USE AND WASTE ONLY:-

 

All the timber to be thoroughly seasoned, free from sap, shakes, large, loose or dead knots, waney edges and all other defects and cut die square.

 

The timber, unless otherwise described, to be approved selected Yellow Deal, clean and bright and for extra large scantlings Pitch Pine, carefully selected and free from knots.

 

The Carpenter's and Joiner's work generally, moldings, etc., to be worked to details which will be supplied and no work must be commenced until such drawings are received. All to be fixed in an approved manner.

 

The hoardings must be maintained while required and removed when directed by the Architect and all works disturbed must be made good and shutters locked and kept locked when not in use.

 

HOARDING TO BROAD STREET FRONTAGE WITH RETURN TO BUILDING LINE:-

 

Excavate post hole 2' 0" x 2' 0" x 3' 0" deep including breaking up brick foundations if necessary.

 

Fill in and well ram around foot of posts with concrete 1. 2. 6.  2' 0" x 2' 0" x 3' 0" deep.

 

Break through existing Cellar paving and excavate for end of 9" x 3" raking strut 3' 0" deep and well pack around.

 

54 ' Cube. Fir framed in 4" x 2" rails

HOARDING TO CAR DRIVE OF MASONIC TEMPLE.

 

36 Yards  Run. Temporary hoarding of 1" wrot close boarding and supports with 3" x 2" wrot capping fixed to slope and strutted up as necessary from basement or sub-basement and to be removed when gantry is erected.

 

OTHER HOARDINGS.

 

Hoardings are measured to Broad Street frontage with return to building line at east end and between Masonic Temple Drive and site, but nothing has been included for protection to the rear of the site adjoining the Municipal Car Park. On this line the existing Car Park wall remains and the Contractor must include here for any additional protection or hoardings which may be necessary at the rear.

 

1 Meter and control clock house 4' 0" x 3' 0" x 4' 0" high of weather proof construction with door ironmongery etc., all complete.

 

1 Showcase pf 1" dovetailed wrot boarding 5' 9" x 4' 0" high & 12" deep with 1¼" glazed opening molded hardwood sash with loose beads for glass in 3" x 1 ¾" rebated hardwood frame. The Showcase to be fitted and fixed in boarded front flush with face and including all cutting around

 

2 Approved roller shutters to opening 12' 0" x 10' 0" in clear complete with side posts, guides, roller boxing, winding gear

           and approved ironmongery

                          No. 1. Extra for wicket door complete with ironmongery

1 Pair 2" brass butts to hardwood

1 Brass cupboard lock to do.

3 Gilt letters 6" deep on painted background

GANTRY.

 

USE AND WASTE ONLY.

 

The Gantry will be erected on and above the Car Drive to the Masonic Temple, adjoining the site. This drive will be in constant use and must be kept clean and clear of all debris, rubbish and materials at all times, and the Contractor must carefully protect all persons, animals, property etc., from all accidents, injury and damage, whilst using this drive and must make good all damage and pay all costs, claims, charges and compensation due to any accident, injury and damage.

 

The Gantry must be maintained while required and  removed when directed by the Architect.

 

Make good all work disturbed and all damage.

 

The timber to be selected, well seasoned Red Deal clean and bright and for extra large scantlings Pitch Pine carefully selected free from knots.

 

The timber to be well framed together and to include for all necessary bolts, dogs, spikes, wedges, etc.

 

Provide all necessary lamps to posts of gantry, including maintaining and lighting during all statutory lighting up times.
