4785 The following report of the General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Clock in Turret, Erdington Branch.
With a view to improving the aspect of the premises and adding to the amenities of the district, arrangements have been made for the provision of a clock with two dials in the turret of the Erdington Branch.
Tenders have been invited for the carrying out of this work to a specification prepared by the City Surveyor, and your Sub-Committee recommend that the tender of Messrs Gent & Co Ltd, of Leicester, at the sum of £98. 3. 6d. be accepted.
4786 RESOLVED:- That
the tender of Messrs Gent & Co Ltd (Leicester) to provide and install a clock with two dials in the turret of the Erdington Branch
premises, at the sum of £98. 3. 6d be accepted.

4979 The following report of the General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Turret clock at Erdington Branch.
Your Sub-Committee are of opinion that as this clock has been provided by the Bank solely for the convenience of the public the expense of illumination should be met out of public funds and they therefore recommend that the Public Works and Town Planning Committee be requested to defray this expense out of the amount provided for the lighting of the city.
4932 RESOLVED:- That this Committee, being of opinion that
the cost of illumination of the turret clock at the Erdington Branch should be met out of public funds, as it is provided solely for
the convenience of the public and to improve the amenities of the district hereby request the Public Works and Town Planning Committee
to defray this expenditure out of the amount allocated for the lighting of the city.

5044 The following report of the General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Turret Clock, Erdington Branch.
A Minute has been received from the Public Works and Town Planning Committee intimating that they are unable to take over the cost of lighting this clock.
Negotiations are proceeding with the Electric Supply Department as to the charge for illumination.
5046 RESOLVED:- That Minute No 4982 (Lighting of Turret Clock, Erdington Branch) be discharged.

5162 The General Manager reported that the Electric Supply Department had now agreed to charge 2¼d. per unit in respect of electric current
for lighting the turret clock at the Erdington Branch and the Committee confirmed this arrangement.
