General Purposes Sub-Committee: December 10th 1928.

 

On Minute No 1320, the General Manager presented the following report with regard to the available use of land and buildings purchased for branch bank purposes:

1329   RESOLVED:- That the foregoing report of the General Manager be approved.

 

The General Manager called attention to a communication received from the Solicitors to the owner of land adjoining the Selly Park premises, as to right of light, and it was:

 

1334   RESOLVED:- That the matter be referred to the Town Clerk and General Manager with authority to take such action in regard to the matter as they may consider expedient.

 

Bank Committee: March 18th 1929

 

The Town Clerk presented the following report stating that the Solicitors to the adjoining owners had intimated that they do not see any necessity for a formal agreement in regard to the question of right of light at the Selly Park premises:

 

I have to report that after correspondence with the adjoining Owners' Solicitors I have heard from them saying that under the circumstances they do not see any need for a formal agreement in this case.

 

Finance Sub-Committee: December 13th 1929

 

The General Manager reported that Messrs C Bryant & Son, the Contractors for the Selly Park premises, had claimed interest on the money due to them in connection with the alterations to the premises occupied by Barclays Bank, owing to the long delay in settling the account.

 

390     RESOLVED:- That the General Manager be requested to take up the matter with the City Treasurer and City Surveyor with a view to the matter being settled.

On Minute No 390 (C Bryant & Son - interest on retention money) the General Manager reported that this matter had now been settled and the interest on retention money paid over to the Contractors.

Your Sub-Committee report that the following tender has been accepted for painting work at Selly Park branch:

Finance Sub-Committee: July 20th 1931

 

Selly Park Branch Flat.

 

Your Sub-Committee report that the Lease of this flat will expire in September next and the Lessee (Mr F A Ward) has asked to be allowed to remain as a tenant, subject to six months notice being given on either side. The General Manager has been instructed to inform the Lessee that permission will be granted to continue the tenancy at the present rental (viz: £45 per annum plus rates and cost of internal repairs) subject to six months notice on either side and they recommend that this arrangement be confirmed and the Town Clerk instructed to prepare the necessary document.

657     The General Manager reported that the tenant of the Selly Park flat had intimated his intention of leaving by September, and Mr Wilde had been instructed to take steps to secure a fresh tenant.

 

Report of the Town Clerk: December 17th 1932

 

I have to report that I have completed an Agreement for Tenancy of the Selly Park flat:

 

Philip Leach, for 3 years from the 29th September 1932, £40 per annum.

Tenders for painting and decorations at Branches.

 

Your Sub-Committee report that the following tender has been accepted for painting and decoration work at Selly Park branch:

Hadley & Son, Ltd: £16. 11. 0.

Arrangements have been made for the letting of the flat at Selly Park to Mr W T Bushell at a rental of £40 per annum, the tenant to be responsible for rates and internal repairs and the tenancy to be for one year certain and thereafter subject to quarterly tenancy.

 

Report of the Town Clerk: November 13th 1935

 

I have to report that I have completed an Agreement for Tenancy of the flat at the Selly Park Branch, with Mr K H Platt, for three years from the 29th September 1935, at a rent of £45 per annum.

 

Finance & General Purposes Sub-Committee: March 15th 1937

 

Your Sub-Committee report that the existing lessee of the flat at the Selly Park branch having been transferred to South Wales by his employers, arrangements have been made to let the flat to Mrs E Waite, of 6, Bloomfield Road, Moseley, at a rental of £45 per annum exclusive of rates and internal repairs until the 29th September, 1938, the expiration of the existing lease, on the understanding that Mrs E A Brown (the mother of the prospective tenant) is joined in the agreement to guarantee payments of the rent.

I have to report that  I have completed an Agreement for the Tenancy of Selly Park flat:

 

W A Thompson of 2 St Stephen's Road, Selly Park: One year certain from 29th September 1938 and thereafter quarterly (except Christmas) at a rent of £45 per annum, plus rates and water charges.
