On Minute No 350 the Town Clerk presented the following report as to the termination of tenancy at No 4, Soho Hill:
July 7th 1923
Committee Minute No 350
re No 4 Soho Hill, Handsworth.
I beg to report that in compliance with this Minute, I duly served the notice on the tenant of No 4 Soho Hill, Handsworth, for the termination of his tenancy at Lady Day 1924.
The Tenant's Solicitors have written to me acknowledging this notice and stating that their client has built up a business at these premises and asking whether it may be possible for him to retain the shop if the other premises are given up or whether any alternative accommodation can be offered.
I am of opinion that unless there is some change of law in the meanwhile it will be necessary for the Corporation, if they desire possession upon the expiry of the notice to quit, to show alternative accommodation, or to make some other arrangement with the tenant. The matter will not of course arise until March 1924 but it may be an advantage for consideration to be given to the matter before that date.
372 RESOLVED:- That the General Manager be directed to instruct Mr Wilde to make enquiries as to vacant properties in the vicinity, with a view to alternative accommodation being offered to the Occupier at No 4 Soho Hill.
